Philip N. Marasco
Philip was born on March 13, 1950, in Queens, to Katherine (Lanza) and Nicholas Marasco, who both predeceased him along with his brother, Joe Visone.
The defining point of his youth was entering the United States Marines in 1967 and serving until 1971.
Philip proudly secured the perimeter of Blackthorne Resort in East Durham for many years and loved little more than twisting the throttle on his motorcycle, feeling the wind in his face and listening to the rumble of the engine.
Philip's family requested his parting message be shared.
"To all of my friends and family, though I am gone I am in a better place now. I have joined the people that I missed and love. My life as a Marine helped shape me to the man I am. I will now be with "My Brothers" who all fought in battle. Remember me always in the wave of the flag and the sound of a bike that follows the road. Semper Fi."
Loving him forever are his wife, Elaine Marasco of Milford, who he married on Nov. 29, 1988; son, Nicholas Pacio (Mary Ruck) of Manassas, Virginia; stepchildren, Danielle Gershovich (Steve Caiazzo) of Brooklyn and Rob Harmon of Manhattan; stepmother, Anita Agueci of Mattituck; stepbrother, Patrick Sweeney of San Diego; his Marine family; his beloved family members at Blackthorne Resort, including Roy and Dale Handel, Patty Handel and Jenine Valentino; and all of his loving cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 26, at Coltrain Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Saratoga National Cemetery.
All are invited to visit with Philip's family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, and again from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, before the funeral service.
Donations in Philip's memory are kindly requested to Catskill Area Hospice, 297 River Street Service Road, Suite 1, Oneonta, NY 13820
