Ronald's Story

Ronald C. Folts, a true family man who lived life to the fullest, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon, July 26, 2010. He was 67. Born Dec. 7, 1942, at A.O.
Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta, Ron was a son of Owen and Mildred (Crawford) Folts.
At the age of 6, Ron and his family moved to the Cooperstown area and he graduated from Cooperstown Central School with the Class of 1964.
On March 28, 1964, Ron married Marilynn  Marlette in a ceremony in North Creek.
Throughout his life Ron was employed at various businesses throughout the area, mostly in retail sales.
He first worked at Scavo’s, a variety store in Oneonta and then at Agway stores in Oneonta, Cobleskill and Cooperstown.
He also worked for West Nesbitt, first in Sharon Springs and then in Cherry Valley, and later with the National Baseball Hall of Fame and the Clark Sports Center. Ron’s family meant the world to him, especially his kids and grandkids, and he always enjoyed attending their sporting events.
Ron also enjoyed hunting, bowling, and mowing lawns. A people person, he always liked passing time with his friends and neighbors, and  enjoyed pulling an occasionalprank or two. He truly led a full life.
Ron is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marilynn, of Toddsville; their children and spouses, Scott and Jessica Folts of Edmeston, John and Katie Folts of Latham and Terry and Debbie Bunn of Hartwick Seminary; six grandchildren, Luke Folts, Mikaila Folts, Alissa Folts, Harper Folts, and Travis and Carter Bunn; two sisters, Patricia O’Brien and her husband, William of Waterford and Leola Folts and her fiance, Percy Wart of Hartwick; three brothers, Owen Jack Folts of Mount Vision, Gary Folts and his wife, Laura and Donald Folts and his wife, Maria, all of Hartwick; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mrs. Bernice Marlette, of Mount Vision; and several brothers and sisters- in law to whom he was very close.
In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by a son, Craig Ronald Folts, who died Jan. 19, 1998; and his father- in-law, Kendall Carfield Marlette, who died Feb. 19, 2001.
Friends may call to pay their respects at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, July 29, 2010, when Ron’s family will be in attendance.
A funeral service will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2010, at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home with the Rev. James Crouthamel, retired Lutheran pastor and the Rev. Richard Stackhouse, pastor of the Mount Vision United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in Mount Vision Cemetery.
As an alternative to flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial gifts may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Utica NY Office, Lomond Office Park, 110 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502.
Arrangements are under the guidance of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.
