COOPERSTOWN [mdash] Artist and sculptor. Longtime resident of New York and Cooperstown, where he had maintained a home and studio since 1972.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he studied at the Honolulu Academy of Art before moving to New York to study at the Art Students League. His work was shown in several group shows in New York before he joined the Robert Schoelkopf Gallery where he remained for 12 years until Robert Schoelkopf's death, after which he joined the Forum Gallery. He was currently represented by the Jason McCoy Gallery, also in New York.
His work is in private, corporate and museum collections across the country. In the upstate region he has had one-man shows at the Fenimore, Munson-Williams-Proctor, and Everson Museums and is in the permanent collection of the Picker Art Gallery at Colgate University.
An avid gardener, his Cooperstown house and garden have appeared in the British and American editions of House and Garden, in WWD (the Women's Wear Daily magazine), and House Beautiful among others.
He is survived by his partner of 60 years, Paul Kellogg; two siblings, Edna and Thomas of Honolulu; several nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.
His work will be his memorial, and at his request there will be no services. Contributions may be made to Bassett Medical Center, Fenimore Art Museum, Catskill Area Hospice, Glimmerglass Festival, the Susquehanna Animal Shelter, Hyde Hall, or a charity of one's choice.
