Marjorie's Story

ONEONTA — Marjorie Catherine Edson, age 92, of Voorhees, New Jersey, and formerly of Milford Center, passed on Sept. 28, 2015, with her daughter and son by her side at her assisted living home in Voorhees, New Jersey. 
She was loving mother of Gail Stuckey (Larry), Jeffrey Edson (Jill Rivard) and deceased daughter, Linda Potter; devoted grandmother of Robert Snell (Jackie), Richard and Brian Gorence and Lauren Edson, and dear sister of Claire and brother Russ Hotaling.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Allen Hotaling. Marjorie was born in Kortright, on Feb. 6, 1923, the daughter of the late Myron and Elsie (Condon) Hotaling. She was baptized in the name of the father and the son and the Holy Spirit at Portlandville Methodist Church on April 5, 1942.
Marjorie was married to Harold E. Edson on November 6, 1941, with the Reverend George S. Howel uniting them. God bestowed upon them a gift so pure, and lasting sweetly for 70 years into a memory so Devine.
Marjorie was loved by her local community, also in her retirement years in (Zepherhills, Fla.), and finally at her assisted living home in Voorhees, New Jersey.
For many years she was a cafeteria worker at Portlandville Elementary school, and co-operated Edson’s Supermarket with her husband, Harold, in Portlandville.
Marjorie was very active in the United Methodist church in Portlandville, enjoyed serving and supporting those around her, and simply cherished everyone.
She was beautifully extravagant and wholesome deeply loving her friends and family. In the end, at her assisted-living, she enjoyed visits from family and grandchildren, playing bingo and loved dancing during festivities and holidays (at the age of 92) celebrating all of life!
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, the Milford Center Cemetery with the Rev. Sylvia Barrett officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Portlandville United Methodist Church, 2878 State Highway 28, Portlandville, New York 13834.
