VENICE, Fla. — Jean E. Olin, 81, of Venice, Fla., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 14, 2014. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 15, 1932, at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, the daughter of Clyde and Agnes Butler. After graduating from Cooperstown Central School in 1949, she graduated from Albany Business College. On Nov. 11, 1951, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard F. Olin, at the First Baptist Church in Cooperstown. Jean retired from the Venice YMCA where she touched many lives while working as a child care director. She is survived by her husband, Richard of Venice, Fla.; and their nine children, Christine (Philip) Carolan of Fresno, Calif., Richard M. (Theresa) Olin of Pittsburgh, Pa., Nancy (William) Edwards of Phoenix, N.Y.; Donna (Anthony) Qualtiere of Hudson, Fla., Linda (Christian) Williamson of Columbia, Md., Cynthia McCorkle of Venice, Fla., Kevin (Christy) Olin of Hiawassee, Ga., Jana (Christopher) Rowe of Greensboro, N.C., and Melissa (Robert) Smith of Houston, Texas. She will be missed by her 28 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Richard (Anita) Butler of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and her sister, Susan (John) McCullough of Cazenovia, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Lawrence Byer. A memorial service will occur at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Venice Church of the Nazarene, 1535 East Venice Ave., Venice, FL 34292. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pregnancy Solutions, 1680B Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL 34293. Burial will be at a later date in Cooperstown.
