Elaine Marie Bolton of Fly Creek, died late Friday afternoon, Oct. 29, 2010, at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, Md. She was 80. Born May 17, 1930, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Carl Gunnar and Bertha (Kneessy) Lindberg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Arthur Bolton, whom she married on March 25, 1949.
A loving mother and grandmother, Elaine was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, going out to lunch, shopping, bowling and playing pinochle.
Beginning in February of 1970, she was employed as a Secretary and Supervisor of Attendance at the Cooperstown Middle/High School, retiring in June of 1997. She will be remembered by many as the kind attendance lady at the school, a position she held for 27 years.
Elaine is survived by her children, daughter, Darlene and husband Alan Hazen, of Coral Springs, Fla., and their children, Samantha and Timothy; daughter, Susan Bolton of Aurora, Colo.; son, Albert and wife Cindy Bolton, of Westminster, Colo.; daughter, Wendy and husband Richard Splan, of Prospect, Ky; and daughter, Lori and husband Mark Gengenbach, of Havre de Grace, Md., and their children, Sarah, Chris and Matthew.
She is also survived by her brother, Carl Lindberg and his wife, Carolyn of Burlington Flats; a brother-in-law, Charles and wife Elizabeth Bolton, of Burlington Flats; a sisterin- law, Dorothy Bolton of Burlington Flats; and several nieces and nephews; along with other relatives on Long Island and in Colorado, California and Virginia.
Friends called at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Nov. 2, 2010, when Elaine’s family was in attendance.
At the conclusion of the visitation Tuesday evening, the Rev. Thomas E. Pullyblank, pastor of the Fly Creek UnitedMethodist Church _ of which Elaine was a long-time member _ conducted a brief prayer service.
A funeral service was offered at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown, with the Rev. Barry Davis, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Burlington, officiating.
The Service of Committal and Burial followed in Fly Creek Valley Cemetery in Fly Creek.
