NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Charles Holdorf, 72, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at Myrtle Beach Manor in South Carolina.
Charles was a 1961 graduate of Cooperstown High School.
In 1971, he graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He took great pride in his burnt orange, hook’em horns!
Charles served his country meritoriously during the Vietnam Conflict and was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Silver Star for his service as a Medical Corpsman with the 5th Special Forces Group.
Charles had been gainfully employed as an administrator at Leander Boys School in Austin, Texas.
He was also an avid dog trainer, breeder and owner of multiple Irish wolfhound champions.
Charles found his true love of adventure through his U.S. Coast Guard license. He navigated the Atlantic Ocean numerous times and made many friends sailing and racing the vessel, “Illusion.”
Charles was an active member of the Robbers Roost Homeowners Association, VFW, American Legion and Special Forces Association.
